Byte-Size Blair | August 18

We’re back with Byte-Size Blair, our weekly wrap-up of all things social media. If you’re not already following us on Facebook,Twitter, Tumblr, or Pinterest, give us a look.

1. One of our most engaging social media posts to date was this picture of a dashing young Mr. Blair with his catch of the day that we posted for Throwback Thursday.

2. On Wednesday, we revisited Millie-Christine, “one of the most amazing people you’ve never heard of.”

3. B.O.Q. is still garnering great reviews!

4. Don’t forget to (Friday) follow our distributed lines on Twitter. Authors and distributed authors who tweet, make sure you say hello to @blairpublisher.

5. Speaking of distributed lines, Eno Publisher’s latest in the 27 Views series, 27 Views of Charlotte, is on sale now!

That’s all for now, folks. It’s busybusybusy at Blair this week, so in lieu of a Blair pet, we give you this inspirational cat photo.

Byte-Size Blair | August 11

We’re back with Byte-Size Blair, our weekly wrap-up of all things social media. If you’re not already following us on Facebook,Twitter, Tumblr, or Pinterest, give us a look.

1. Thanks to the Hider sisters, two-thirds of a set of triplets and the authors of one of our upcoming fall titles, Badass Civil War Beards, for giving us this great reblog for #ManCrushMonday.

2. On Tuesdays, we celebrate our distributed lines and their authors in a series we call Words with Friends. This week, we shared an interview in Oklahoma Magazine with NewSouth author Clifton Taulbert about his memoir The Invitation.

3. Another NewSouth author, co-editor of Voices Beyond Bondage Erika DeSimone had a beautiful guest blog up at Huffington Post about a forgotten literary movement, 19th-century African-American poetry.

4. Bearwallow author Jeremy B. Jones will be joining Dancing on Rocks author Rose Senehi, along with many other greats like Robert Morgan, at Writers on the Rock next month.

5. Finally, we love this photo from the early days of John F. Blair, Publisher. We’re celebrating our 60th birthday this year! Can you guess what year this photo was taken?

That’s all for this week on Byte-Size Blair. We’ll sign off with the newest Blair pet, Molly, who’s a real intellectual.

Byte-Size Blair | August 4

We’re back with Byte-Size Blair, our weekly wrap-up of all things social media. If you’re not already following us on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or Pinterest, give us a look.

Last week was a big one. We said goodbye to a coworker, welcomed a new one, lost a friend and literary icon, and celebrated our state’s readers and writers.

1. Our beloved former publicist got married this weekend, but before she did, we made her our literary lady for Woman Crush Wednesday.

2. Louise Shivers, who wrote Here to Get My Baby Out of Jail, passed away last week. Read our goodbye here.

3. Billy Bowater by Redge Hanes is a must-read for the folks at Duke Magazine. The political satire is available now and we’ll be celebrating its launch at SECCA early next month!

4. This August, some of our favorite food books are 30% off. See what we’ve got cooking in our Kitchen Favorites!

5. Did y’all happen to see the great article in Shelf Awareness about the indie book business in North Carolina? Turns out our communities are thriving along with their independently-owned bookstores.

Thanks for stopping by and seeing what we’ve been up to at Blair. This week, we’ll also be sending out our August newsletter so sign up to receive it in your inbox if you haven’t already.

(The worst part about saying goodbye to Trisina is saying goodbye to her adorable dog, Oatmeal! We expect many office visits from the both of them.)
